Southern New Hampshire Youth Ballet

Regional Dance America’s mission is to advance and foster the growth and education of dancers, choreographers, directors and dance companies in every community across the United States and Canada. RDA provides a national identity and support for its five regional associations: MidStates; Northeast; Pacific; Southeast; and Southwest. Development of member companies is further promoted through regional and national festivals by affirming standards of appraisal, evaluation and performance to which all members are held.

Background

RDA was formed as the National Association for Regional Ballet in 1956 when eight companies met in Atlanta, Georgia to share choreography, classes and performances.

In 1959 the Northeast hosted its first festival, organized and hosted by Alexi Ramov & Barbara Weisberger.  Luminaries from the dance world, along with students from studios representing the highest quality training, flocked to Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania to be a part of this first of many festivals to come: celebrating the best of the burgeoning dance world.

Fifty years later our mission is firmly realized as Regional Dance America Northeast continues to support directors, choreographers, dancers in the Northeast Region in their pursuit of artistic excellence!
